I knew these were used in WW1 though I had not realised how extensively. I am surprised, though, that they were still in service into the 1940s as the 2 in mortar was so widely used at squad level at the time. And being a mortar they would have a higher rate of fire. You could drop several rounds downrange in quick succession. Well a couple of new facts learned today. Thanks
