When she was younger my daughter loved watching wildlife programmes. One we watched showed animals in Africa eating fermented fruit which had an alcohol content. Not sure what it tasted like but the animals obviously could not get enough of it. Alcohol had the same effect on elephants and monkeys as humans. So we were treat to the sight of monkeys staggering around or falling out of trees. And an elephant leaning against a tree so that he did not fall over. Interestingly the animals are attracted by the smell of the fermented fruit which indicates it is ready to eat.
