Excellent anecdote about Chamath. He seems to have a high disagreeableness trait. I've heard him in other interviews profanely denigrating others. He has no gravitas. Don't take it personally.

Love him or not, Peter is always correct and annoyingly prescient

Nice one Pete. Merry xmas.

That girl is brave going on a panel discussion with Peter Schiff to defend the questionable philosophy of the bitcoin cult. Trying to pitch bitcoin as the little guy's investment opportunity to counter the "exploitative" rich who made millions because of asset revaluations, is small minded resentment, more akin to what a cultural Marxist would say.
2
Peter is correct as usual. BTC has PONZI SCHEME written all over the box that it comes in. .... no, wait you don't even get the box.

The Untouchables Sean Connery says "Isn't that's just like a pedophile, brings a skateboard to a gun fight"
2
True. It's shameful and shocking what a waste of human effort it has become.
2
Sheeple ? Blaaaaa blaaaaaa Blaa !
2
I agree with Taleb Nassim. Nobel prizes should never be given to economists. People tend to take their theories seriously and this can lead to bad outcomes when it turns out their theories are wrong.
2
@RL-fj9xz Yep, its a big problem. Things will change when the US takes more advantage of robotic manufacturing like Germany is beginning to do and thereby competing with the cheap labour of China.
2
This is similar to Peter's interview with some bulls in 2007. You would think they'd learn
2
Wolff What a simpleton! Capitalism has made most of the world rich. Socialist countries are poor. Not a coincidence. woff woff !
2
I have also long suspected Bitcoin has been manipulated by the majors who trade with one another, thus giving the appearance of activity and keeping the price up when it looks like going down. Its called "painting the tape" in share trading parlance.

Smoking sucks

Elon Musk is a contrarian. He'll sell his BTC share when he's made some money. Other large BTC shareholders will hate him for it.
1
Thank you Pete. Summed it up nicely.
1
I think he's secretly been reading my diary. That's embarrassing.
1
Peter is man of integrity and he has stuck to his guns in his war against shitcoins.
1
Berkshire has ~$137 billion (as of May 8, 2020) in cash reserves. What is the company going to do with all this cash when/if the US$ devalues as much as Peter is predicting?
1
You mean Socialists I hope
1
@prolific1518 Capitalists also give you all the things you see in front of you right now not to mention freedom and liberty
1
@fishbrainCTRL You mean war bonds? Why are you asking a rhetorical question which you think you have the answer to... See, now I'm doing it too.
1
@fishbrainCTRL duh
1
@svetlanasvetlacy9581 ... what about Multilevel Polyhedron Marketing Scheme ?
1
@fishbrainCTRL but in answer to your question, WWII was won by Viscount Bernard Montgomery with help from the Americans and Britain's colonies.

The Btc phenomenon is going to remembered like the Dotcom boom and crash, except this time there will be no recovery. Cryptos will experience a boom and then a bust to dust trajectory.
1
@AniishAu Maybe, but we've going to have to wait and see if the next unsuspecting generation to suckered in.
1
Thank god for the Jews

These so-called journalists will eventually find the place and status they deserve ... which is a caravan park in a dusty outback town in Queensland.
1
@brads008 ...for broken dreams
1
Mashinsky's smirk makes me want to puke. Peter has refined intuition, vast experience and excellent reasoning skills. You can't beat that.
1
Rittenhouse did the world a favour.

There's an old saying used by psychiatrists "Neurotic people build castles in the sky and psychotic people live in them". Could we be seeing an epidemic of psychotics revealing themselves with their digital houses in cyberspace?
1
About China's population, demographers are saying that the population is going to halve in 50 years, not increase at all. This is because modern urban women are choosing to have far fewer children, in fact sometimes none. Many of the educated women I know are apprehensive about bringing up children to be brainwashed in school from of the CCP based curriculum. They are nervous about where their society is heading and I don't blame them.
1
That is way too contrived. Chinese economy is struggling as it is and not as monolithic as it seems. The crap they make still needs to be competitive with products made in other countries.
1
Plain speaking and consistently anti-crypto. Peter will eventually win this war when a (semi) gold backed/digital currency finds no home for Bitcoin or other Ponzi schemes.
1
Both

Winter is coming. I believe Michael Sailor was burnt in the dotcom bust. This will be the second time he's lost a fortune ... or to be more accurate, other people's money. I don't envy his position but have no sympathy either because of the irresponsible way he encouraged people to invest.
1
Great podcast Peter ! I too was wrong about Bitcoin. I used to think it was useful. Now I think its a PONZI scheme inside a pyramid.
1
Just do what Peter says and you'll be ok. Seriously

When hang glider pilots ride thermal currents upwards, they perform tighter and tighter circles in order to stay within the smaller radius of the thermal. One by one the pilots peel off as it becomes more dangerous due to closer proximity to each other. Finally there is only one left, at which point the energy of the current provides only a marginal lift advantage and the final glider pilot pulls out and begins losing altitude. So where is the analogy to bitcoin? Before it ends, there will be only a few players left who have accumulated the bulk of the fund. Eventually, the bullshit they have been riding will end ... except the descent will be straight down.
1
Seems the big BTC holders absolutely hate the founder and largest BTC holder, Craig Wright who says BTC has morphed into a Ponzi scheme. This is why he's never mentioned or acknowledged by the Bitnuts.

@walden6272 Its a bit like reversing your vacuum cleaner so it works as a leaf blower. Works, but not very well.
