  5. I agree. There was an overtone of sour grapes. During his excellent final speech, at one point Nigel Farage said "We love Europe but hate the European Union". Although edited out of this piece, Mairead McGuinness managed to twist his words in a final spin and said "the word hate was used in that speech, you should not hate anyone", implying that Nigel Farage was nothing more than a hater. No friendly goodbyes like "so long and thanks for all the fish". Her remark was straight out of the Social Justice Warriors playbook. Who wouldn't want to leave this poisonous environment?

  8. The only thing I would disagree with M Fukuyama about is giving any credit to the Chinese communist party. Other Asian nations such as Japan, Taiwan and South Korea have done far better than China at relieving poverty and transitioning their economies into modern industrial wealth creators. The Communists have always been primarily interested in power and taking wealth for themselves. The CCP have co-opted the long standing tradition of central government for their own ends. It also worth remembering that having such a rigid form of government allowed foreigners, including Manchurians, Japanese, Russians and British to invade and subdue (enslave) the people. The Chinese simply won't accept that having a liberal democracy will make (at least the heartland of China) stronger and more stable.

  15. We've just heard that the all of men who surrendered at the steel plant have been murdered. The Russian army pretended it was a missile attack by the Ukrainians. The world will not forget this, just as has not forgotten the cold blooded murder of 22 000 (twenty two thousand) Polish military personal by the Russian army in May 1940. Russia as a cohesive federation of states is finished and the rest of the world, particularly the Ukranians, Americans and Polish are going to ensure this is the case. Goodbye and good riddance to Russia.

Sounds like she's repeating a lot of CCP talking points ... like China is only ever going to be a one party state and the CCP has earned legitimacy through its economic development. CCP's legitimacy is no more qualified than it is in, say, Taiwan, a country which has way surpassed China's standard of living and has freedom and democracy as well. Remember the CCP destroyed the economy and the country for 30 years before they were forced to embrace capitalism. When scholars talk about China, and its current economic plight, it is also necessary to mention the unconscionable human rights abuses. Part of the economy is supported by slave labor in Xinjiang. The CCP lie about EVERYTHING and Dr Yu Jie conveniently overlooks this fact, instead of saying they are lying, she sidesteps and says she doesn't know. Alarm bells are ringing !
