6 point deduction for breaking FFP (with all the advantages that can bring) makes a mockery out of FFP. Now, I want my club Aston Villa to spend through the nose on new player transfers and stadium extensions and completely ignore the FFP. Heck! We'll only get "2 wins" deducted for breaking FFP. That is well worth the risk, of splashing the cash and bringing in some top, top quality players, to further strengthen a challenge push next season. Signing such players could easily equate to 5 extra league wins over the course of a season (not to mention cup matches). And we'll only get 6 points deducted from a likely 15+ extra points gained. FFP is a joke. Who is going to fear the repercussions of breaking it after this appeal result?

It makes absolutely ZERO difference whether a club spends money on refurbishing/extending or building a new stadium and whether that same money was spent on player transfers or salaries. The rules are the same for every club. Nobody forced Everton to build a new stadium at this time. There's nothing inherently wrong with Goodison Park, it's not falling down.

@Rules Yeah, but thanks to Everton's appeal, now we know there's barely any punishment for breaking FFP. 6 points? That's barely a scratch, compared to the benefits a club could gain by breaking FFP and signing top players. I wonder how the wealthier owners will react to this result? Now that Everton have established, that there's very little deterrent to breaking the financial fair play rules. What is now stopping clubs like Villa, or even richer owners like Newcastle's from just going on an all out spending spree? Not to mention, Man City's owners must be laughing their asses off at this appeal result.

@Rules "Wonder why?" ... Well, of course it was to stay within the FFP guidelines. Are you implying that Villa's owners (the 4th wealthiest in the English league) would not have invested more otherwise? If so, you obviously don't know our owners. The only thing holding them back is FFP. (or should I say "was", since this ruling has proven FFP to be a joke and nothing to fear from breaking it). What about a club like Newcastle United? What deterrent has been established here, to deter their owners from going all out and spending billions on players? Up until now, they have been following the FFP restrictions. But I doubt 6 point deduction for breaking FFP is going to put them off any more. They should just go crazy and sign the best players from every league this summer and factor in the "6 point deduction" as a given. They could win the league, without adhering to FFP.
