@TheHoboTraveller no, because either he runs into a hawk and has a 50% chance of surviving, or he doesn't run into a hawk and gets 2 pieces, not just ensuring survival, but reproduction. So depending on the number of hawks vs food, the dove either has 50% of surviving or more, never less.

What do you do if the position remains vacant? A new election? And who represents the voters untill then? It could work, essentially you can say all candidates in the next election can't have been on the previous ballot, however this might also negatively affect smaller parties or newcomers who just don't have name recognition yet. And it brings other problems with too.

You should have also looked at a second round voting like in France: first round every candidate can be voted for, if no one gets a majority, the 2 top choices can be voted on in the second round. This again has advantages and disadvantages. (But again way better than plurality/FPTP) But great video, really want to see a multi person election systems video.
