Thing is, as long as the Chinese version does what it is meant to do, it is actually better. Since it likely was a lot cheaper. The old one is overbuilt, as so much was in the past. Personally I don't see why people often find overbuilt products better if they just do the same job.

@EarthSurferUSA I am not saying in certain cases it isn't a good thing. But for example with this sledgehammer, it really isn't better for it retaining against 100t vs 40t. It should never even get close to that limit unless you do something terribly wrong. That old sledgehammer likely wasn't even made with the intention to be that strong, rather it just was the way it was produced at that time in that place. And in that case a $10 sledgehammer is much better quality for buck than a $100 doing the same thing. Many times people just go "better/stronger/longer lasting is better", when this often just isn't the case. If stuff never needs replacement, improvement will also slow down, because why make a better product or the same for cheaper if nothing needs replacing. Ofcourse in some cases it also shouldn't break as fast as things now sometime do. A refrigerator shouldn't break down after just a few years for example.
