@Mable's Fatal Fable No, it is not, over its entire lifetime (craddle to grave) it pollutes less than ice cars and with recycling and more renewable energy used during production, that will increase its sustainability advantage even more.

@Mythryl12 Except if you were going to get rid of that car in another 2 years for example, you only moved up the loss. And in regards to military equipment, you might even need to pay to get rid of it during decomissioning, then giving it can actually be more cost effective. Ofcourse the US still 'looses' money funding weapons for Ukraine, but it is much much less than is portrayed and overall is it likely spend much more effectively this way, since it is heavily reducing the strength of the 2nd/3rd strongest military in the world and a decades long competitor, even main rival. Also other countries are moving away from Russia for military equipment (due to lack of supply and/or apparent lesser effectiveness than expected), and this can benefit the US military industrial complex too.

Costs will never be in favor of hydrogen cars. The main problem is that using hydrogen will use around 3 times the electricity battery powered cars do. This means their fuel will be 3 times more expensive. It might become more expensive than current gas prices. And this will seriously cut into cost and likability. Now, where it might be succesfull is for trucks and other large vehicles, since the batteries for such large vehicles will be enourmous, increase cost by a lot and reduce usefull load/space. This is why I believe you will get in the future two sources living beside eachother (like now gasoline and diesel): EV's for regular cars and hydrogen for large vehicles.

@TheCaptainSplatter Yeah, I know. But battery manufacturing is taken into consideration in these lifetime comparisons and EV's still always edge it out, unless you take the worst scenario's, which never really will happen.

@Vekikev1 Everything pollutes. In the end EV's are better than ICE cars, and this has been proven repeatedly.
