You can say this about many past empires though.

@kingconstantinusthesadisti133 They had overall much less than in Europe, and often large, fortified cities for a large swath of land etc. And there is a good reason for it. Europe saw much conflict between local rulers, whereas the ones you mentioned were more often than not part of greater empires with overall less local infighting.

@widjiro Except to execute that barbarism they'd have to defeat the Polish and Hungarian army first, killing exactly the ones they need to joing their army. Also there always would be the risks that these troops would turn on them the moment they believe there to be a chance to defeat the mongols. Could the mongols have levied some forces from these regions? Maybe, but it would in too low number to really matter.

@cudanmang_theog And others said they wouldn't be able to do that easily. A lot also depends on how far they're willing to go. If the Mongols pooled all their resources and most manpower together for it, maybe yes. But then you are speaking more about several years, maybe even a decade of preparation, giving Europe also more time to prepare and find ways to counter them.
