@WritingFighter They trained us on that in the 1980s. In one training scenario the defender (my squad leader) took 20 minutes to rudimentary set up a building. He strung concertina wire up the primary stairwell. When the team leader had to stop at the bottom. My Squad Leader dropped a grenade simulator through hole from the second floor. Mouse holes. Boobytrapped doors and windows The more time the defenders have to prepare a building the less likely I would want to go in it. Never use the front door. Best to blow off one of the corners and make your own door. If it is too tough then it will get airstriked or artillery. If that dont work then use fire. The Germans invented flamethrowers in WW1 attacking a French garrison in an underground fortification.

Good video. For a perspective on the effects of flame find a copy of the US Military Flame Operations Manual FM 20-33. It is dated as far as upgraded technologies but will provide a solid base of information especially on the psychological effects of flame on a person.
