  3. Were not a whole lot of sub compact anything in the 1970's except pistols in what are known as Saturday Night Specials. .25 and .32 ACP's. And yes I know Saturday Night Special is about the same wording then as Assault Rifle is today. The SNS's were generally viewed with disdain by the shooting world. They were likened to being pimps and drug dealers guns. Even full size semiautomatics were not really a thing in police departments. Most of them back then would not allow a regular police officer to carry an automatic. The service pistol was generally a .38 revolver.
