  2. Obviously to those of us with access to somewhat modern firearms this terrifying. However prior to 1800 most guns were mostly handmade. These guns were used for poaching animals how many times did they function correctly, how many animals were poaches using them? What you see is ingenuity for the lack of a better weapon they built one without a modern machine shop and without what most people would call a secondary school education. Would you want to shoot an elephant or rhino with one of these? They did. What this shows is what desperate people are capable of. We sit on youtube and judge those who are poor, starving and desperate by our standards. I am by no means justifying poaching or breaking the law.
