The first thing Christianity get rid off was polygamy for a bunch of reasons: a) lowering chances of inbreeding (modern day hook-up culture among western blcks have a ton of issues with half-siblings unknowingly having kids). b) gives more men a reason to engage in society because they have families to care for instead a few of them monopolising the chances of leaving a genetic legacy, which leads to... c) huge parental investment in the forms of passing knowledge, techniques (cultural capital) then, d) more peaceful societies since men have a lot to lose and not needing to rely on violence to get something, also giving them a reason to join military in case of war.
