  1. Russia is getting the Soviet Empire back together, again. This means taking several NATO countries. Russia can't take NATO without using nukes. The west has been pouring gear into Ukraine in the hope that Ukraine could stop Russia BEFORE it gets to this.

  2.  @nomadundercover3018  "Were Ukraine God forbid defeated, Russia would integrate the Ukrainian military into theirs." If Russia wins, the Ukrainian military will mostly be dead. And the survivors won't exactly have warm and fuzzy feelings for their conquerors.

  3. "The gazelle is running for its life. The lion is running for its lunch." True to a point, but you reach a point where you have more military than the society can support, because the people who keep society running are all on the front lines. If all your farmers are on the front lines, you're dependent on what food you can buy or beg from overseas. If all your factory workers are on the front lines, who's going to run the ammunition plants? Who repairs the power grid when the never-to-be-sufficiently-damned Russians bomb it?
