When "elitism" is based on actual ability, it can certainly be efficient. When "elitism" is based on other qualities, the result is almost invariably bad.

And not a word about Blackrock, Vanguard, etc., and their policies of pressuring companies to adopt ESG. Also, Donald Trump gave businesses significant tax and regulatory cuts. The only thing he took away from American business was its access to unlimited cheap foreign labor. This didn't undermine American prosperity, it just spread it downward further than businesses liked. Businesses actually had to pay American workers American wages. The horror!! So they got in a snit with the GOP and threw in with Democrats. American business is now trying to suck up to Democrats. ESG and its sibling DEI (DEI is DIE spelled sideways, sort of) are ways of currying favor with Dems, in the hope Dems will cut them a break on taxes and regulations. Good luck with that.

@johola Insults to their customer base. Specifically, referring to their customers as "fratty". Their most recent ad portrays their customers as too stupid to climb into a hammock without falling.
