  1. Tribal societies generally produce crappy armies. If military units are composed of multiple tribes, they have no unit cohesion, because no on trusts anyone from another tribe. If military units are composed of single tribes, they will have unit cohesion, but will not take heavy casualties, as doing so would weaken their tribe, perhaps fatally.
