Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea was the first time since the Second World War the one sovereign nation has forcibly taken territory from another in Europe. Since then, Russia has fomented the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, repeatedly violated the national airspace of several European countries, and mounted a sustained campaign of cyber espionage and disruption. This has included meddling in elections and hacking the Danish Ministry of Defence and the German Bundestag, among many others. It is seeking to weaponise information. Deploying its state-run media organisations to plant fake stories and photoshopped images in an attempt to sow discord in the West and undermine our institutions. Russia's actions which threaten the international order on which we all depend. The West and other democracies must take necessary actions to counter Russian activity.

@alanvonau278 You are absolutely right my friend. The Russian state is a dictatorship regime. Not surprisingly, the Russian state supports all dictatorship regimes- Gaddafi, Assad, Mugabe, Lukashenko, North Korean leader etc. The problem of today’s Russia goes back to 1917 when the country was taken over by gangsters who called themselves “bolsheviks/communists”. For those who have studied the character of the Russian government, knows that the Russian government is governed by mobs and gangs, where power is concentrated in a few hands. And wherever such a concentration of power exists, there you shall find great crimes and great criminals – that is to say, psychopaths. This is the character of the Russian government. In 1991, when the Soviet Union collapsed, power remained concentrated in a few hands. The government was not really accountable to anyone. Despite this underlying reality, everything was arranged so that it all appeared to be moving in the direction of democratic capitalism and proper checks and balances, but nothing of the kind ever happened. The objective of making changes in the first place was to fool the West. Despite the millions of words written on Putin's Russia, the West still fails to truly understand Russia.

@alanvonau278 Yes I'm from Lithuania. Absolutely. I hate kremlin policy. Hatred, lies and misinformation are what Russian tsar putin is capable of to export to democratic countries. This is toxic to be near next to it.

John Smith I hate Putin's Russia. Russian people being run by those authoritarian cronies in the Kremlin. Putin is very touchy and paranoid, just like any other psychopath. He is not a president, he is a kingpin and he punishes those who do not respect his rule. Authority and oligarchs have assimilated each other. 20+ million people in Russia live in poverty.

Under successive authoritarian/totalitarian regime, Russia has been on the wrong side of humanity since the late 19th century. In just the last few years, Russia and its proxies have been tied to a gruesome assassination of a rival in the UK by nerve agent, shooting down a passenger plane over Ukraine, and efforts to destabilize democracies around the world. Russian Federation should be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism. A few examples of recent Russian atrocities include: Shooting down of MH17 over eastern Ukraine (by Russian backed surrogates); state-sponsored doping at the Sochi Olympics; annexation of eastern Ukraine; annexation of Crimea; the war in Chechnya; killing and the poisoning of opponents; support for the brutal Assad regime in Syria; etc. The Russian cyber squad has been spreading disinformation and launching cyberattacks to undermine western democracies. The corrupt Kremlin liars expect the international community to swallow the same propaganda they feed their own people. To create an alternative reality and to spread confusion is the main aim of the Russian state today. We are all now witnessing the actions of an EVIL REGIME.
