  2. Not so long ago I had a contentious conversation with a medical center pastor -- a Lover of Chirst -- and asked: "To which do you give your loyalty -- to Christ, or to your paycheck?" His response: BOTH. And he is younger than I by several decades. It's as if the 1960s were a briefary breathe of intense thought and fresh air: his attitude is no different than that of the generation before mine. A brief spiritual turmoil and growth, quelled yet again by a "spriritual" materialism.

  3. It can't be proven there's a "God" or "gods". That belief is usually a substitute for thought. A belief is a place to stop and rest -- but not to permanently stay.
