It isn't actually unusual. I know of a case in which a psychologist's "therapy group" turned "religious". In the end he agreed to surrender his license.

So-called "classical liberalism" -- a "conservative" label intended to distinguish between "liberalism" and "liberalism" -- founded pluralist democracy.

@PjRjHj Which "history book" do you recommend? Meanwhile I'll rely on the Founders view as established in their laws: they were LIBERALS who established a liberal democracy. A liberal democracy is PLURALIST and DIVERSE. In simple words: it allows and protects DIFFERENCES OF VIEW -- as results from FREEDOM OF THOUGHT. See First Amendment.

@PjRjHj The United States is a liberal democracy, as the Founders established it. Because the Founders were LIBERALS. They had seen "religious" TYRANNY -- what is known today as FASCISM -- up close and rejected it. The Salem Witch Trials, as example, took that which was extreme -- those with a "wrong" "religion" were banished; if they returned they were executed; research Anne Hutchinson, Mary Dyer -- to the even more extreme: those with a "wrong" "religion" -- in that case ATTRIBUTED -- were executed. The Founders addressed that with, as example, the First Amendment SEPARATION of "religion" and gov't, and its protection of freedom of conscience/belief -- which originated as a legal principle with such as Thomas More in the 15th century; see the film "A Man for All Seasons" with Paul Scofield. And again: to which "history book" do you refer? One YOU haven't read?
