It's ALSO about safety. Clue: the Founders were not anti-gov't or anti-tax -- they both established gov'ts and enacted tax laws.

@stevenpike7857 The first obligation of gov't is to protect public health and safety. See Jacobson v. Massachusetts for a plain explanation why that is the case. Clue: the rights you love to claim wouldn't exist if they weren't secured in writing, with their protection and vindication, in the very written law you reject. I've learned to always question the motive of law-illiterates who knee-jerk oppose regulation. Usually it's that their central "moral" drive is GREED, and a sociopathic obsession with "freedom". Usually they are takers who squeal at the suggestion that they "give" by conforming their behaviors to the rule of law.

After the "revolution" succeeded, propagandist Paine was dropped by the Founders because he was a one-note song. You need to learn the actual full history: "revolution" is "overthrowing gov'ts"; the Founders "attacked" and "overthrew" ZERO gov'ts, because the gov'ts in question were all along under the control of the Founders. It was a civil war. In the propaganda it was termed "revolution," but in the laws of the exact same time it was, "war for American independence". The Founders were neither anti-gov't -- they FOUNDED gov'ts -- nor anti-taxation -- they enacted tax laws. They were pro-gov't because they were pro-stability and law and order -- "liberty WITHIN the law".
