"Whiskey Leaks" is a good one.

Because of the tariffs. And then Trump spent billions in taxpayer monies to bail them out.

The essence of democracy is elections. The Constitution stipulates that there SHALL be elections, and deals with apportionment of House seats.

Yeah -- the narcissism of younger generations who not only know better than "Boomers" but know it all so have nothing to learn. It was "Boomers" who showed that presidents -- and vice-presidents -- can be got. Who got the US out of Vietnam. Who ended the draft. Who mainstreamed the environmental movement. Who invented the personal computer. Who invented -- for better and worse -- social media. Who lead -- with the elderly of that era -- the civil rights movement. Yeah, I'm fed up with the younger generations of know-it-all bigots. Clue: we were activists for decades before you twits were born -- and now you're telling us how to do it!? GAD, talk about being full of oneself!

And that is on the health "care" side of the issue. The issue isn't only the insurance corporations. It is also the hospital -- and nursing home -- administrations. Google "Steward Health Care" -- a disaster that occurred in the Boston, Massachusetts region -- THE area of the country which considers itself the central mecca for health care and medical research in the US. Most of the important reportage on that has been by the "Boston Globe" -- read the comments to the articles -- and the "American Prospect". There are ongoing DOJ investigations of that disaster -- but will they be called off by the Trump criminal enterprise? And underlying that is the fact that in the US health "care" is based on monetization of illness -- the sicker the patient is, the greater the profits for other than the patient.

As a writer I've always written wherever I was. Including restaurants.

Defending murder as if doing so is "moral" is TWISTED -- SICK.

So he voted for deportation of cheap farm labor.

Stop talking imaginary "law," law-illiterate.

There are certain NORMS: one is that one doesn't commit murder. Committing murder is even prohibited by law. Ask yourself: Who is safe in the lawless society these fools are cheering on? How is that different than the thing one is protecting against? ----- From "A Man for All Seasons": In the following, Roper was Thomas More's hot-headed and impulsive son-in-law-- Roper: So now you'd give the Devil benefit of law! More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil? Roper: I'd cut down every law in England to do that! More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you -- where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws, from coast to coast -- man's laws, not God's -- and if you cut them down -- and you're just the man to do it -- do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake.

@Finness894 Google "Steward Health Care".

How to put pressure on the Republicans -- RECALL PETITIONS against the No-Show and "Project 2025" Republicans.

If you're going to assert that cops are "allowed" to lie, then you need to provide the PROOF of that claim. Because most of us are beyond fed up with being lied to on the Internet.

It isn't only the insurance industry. Google "Steward Health Care".

Goldberg wasn't added by accident. Waltz had Goldberg's number and contact information on his phone. That indicates that he's been a Goldberg source in the past. Perhaps he's a "mole" in the Trump criminal enterprise.

And if one is elderly. And if one is Black. And if one is poor. And that is in the medical -- no only insurance -- industry. Google "Steward Health Care" -- then try to blame the insurance industry for that disaster.
1
@sisterdiggins There are restraining and no contact orders.

In fact, between election John Hancock characterized democracy as "mob rule" -- which MAGA showed it is all for on January 6th. But during elections he was all for democracy. With the Constitution, the Founders didn't trust democracy but did not reject it. They institutionalized it as the House of Representatives, with the Senate as a check on its excesses.

The lie is an attack on elections.
1
@JamesEdwards-g6n It is a DEMOCRATIC republic. The essence of democracy is ELECTIONS. The Constitution expressly stipulates that there SHALL be elections. The "Pledge of Allegiance" is not law; it is right-wing propaganda.

@mabainter Jefferson was a slave-owning aristocrat -- among the 1 per cent of the time. A fake populist given to the privilege -- his slaves did all the heavy lifting -- of sitting on his *ss and hypothesizing. His encouragement of the French Revolution resulted in a bloodbath when the various factions of "revolutionaries" turned on each other. See the HBO miniseries "John Adams": Jefferson and Franklin were in Paris hobnobbing with the French 1 per cent while John Adams was doing the real work of getting things done.

To deny others rights one wants for oneself is to threaten and diminish one's own to the same degree. How -- and why? To call into question other's rights is first to call into question the legitimacy of the rights themselves. That is the method by which one denies possession of those rights to others, and thus one's own possession of them. One can join the anti-democratic mob, and thus assist their rush to tyranny; or one can defend the rule of law against chaos, and the tyranny which arises therefrom.

Murderers are not heroes, and it is sick to defend that immorality as if one is actually "moral". Google "Steward Health Care" and see them also killing people -- and they weren't the insurance corporation.
1
A lot of "conservatives" are finding out that they are Liberals.
1
@mariagordanier3404 I've been directly contending with the abuses of BOTH health insurance and health "care" providers for at least 10 years. To condemn this murderer is not a defense of others who hill -- anyone who can count beyond one without error can comprehend that. You are defending immorality while pretending it is moral to do so. Words have consequences: you are promoting domestic terrorism.
1
He is not in any way a hero. He is a murderer. The idea that defending a murderer is a "moral" position is twisted.

"I fear that in every elected office, members will obtain an influence by noise, not sense. By meanness, not greatness. By ignorance, not learning. By contracted hearts, not large souls. There must be decency and respect.” -- John Adams
