The Republicans, lead by McCain, were all about jumping in. But President Obama said to Europe: it's your backyard; we'll provide support, but no US boots on the ground. The world is interdependent, and the US supports its allies. NATO has three basic purposes: 1. For mny hundreds of years European countries warred against each other. Twice they started wars that became world wars -- into which the US was sucked. The US established NATO to put an end to those wars, and that has been successful. 2. NATO is a mutual defense pact of European nations against an historically-expansionist Russia. If Russia attacks one of those nations, all others come to its aid. That keeps US boots on the ground OUT of it. "Let THEM fight THEM THERE." 3. NATO is the US's first line of defense against historically-expansionist Russia. "Let THEM fight THEM THERE" -- but this time, though with US support, without US boots on the ground. A young French woman did a video tour of the D-Day cemetery in Normandy, France -- the cemetery Trump refused to visit because the very light rain might mess up his hair. She largely explored the US section -- acre after acre after acre after acre of white crosses and US troops killed during the D-Day landing. The enormous memorials built in tribute and gratitude to the US. It is a powerful lesson in the history. NATO is to prevent that ever happening again.

Turkey and Hungary were hold-outs against Sweden joining, but that was negotiated out: Turkey is voting to admit Sweden, and Hungary miscalculated and then had to cave. The EU and NATO have reached out to Ukraine to join, and Ukraine wants to join NATO. What Ukraine is at present is the first line of defense of democracy against imperialist/colonialist Russia, against fascist Putin. NATO knows that if Ukraine is defeated, NATO will STILL be on Russia's border, and Putin will CONTINUE to LIE simply because of that fact, and will attack NATO members. NATO was established to put a stop to European countries starting wars that twice sucked the US into world wars. It has been successful at that. It also exists as the US's first line of defense against historically-expansionist Russia without the US having to put US boots on the ground in Europe. There is NO FREE LUNCH, thus the US not only established NATO but also properly provides it support because it is the first line of defense OF THE UNITED STATES without the US having to be on the front lines. You have no idea as to the meaning of ALLIES and ALLIANCES and how they work.

The Pennsylvania Court wrote in its decision, "What were they [US Supreme Court] thinking?" It is unprecedented for state courts to not comply with the US Supreme Court, which is required by the Supremacy Clause. It is right under the actual intent of the Second Amendment, the subject of which is the well-regulated Militia; but it is also dangerous.

Those taxes pay the costs of "We the people" meeting our own needs as determined by "We the people" -- not by free-riding sociopaths -- YOU benefit from EVERYONE'S taxes -- who reject the Constitution and the fact that "We the people" -- it is RIGHT THERE IN THE CONSTITUTION -- are both the gov't, and the beneficiaries of the gov't meeting our needs. This is basic history and legal history: In a world exclusively of "divine right" monarchies and dictatorships, the Founders established a SELF-GOVERNING DEMOCRACY. The best word that applies to that is -- PROGRESSIVE. Or do you doubt that moving beyond monarchy and dictatorship is PROGRESS? In addition, that document, the US Constitution, includes the means to AMEND it in order to keep it up to date with changing times. That is why it is a living document. Get it through your selfish ignorance and false programming: it is TAXES that maintain the roads YOU USE. But if yours were the legitimate view, you, alone, would have to maintain the roads for your use. Can you afford that, reactionary pseudo-individualist?
