@LilybeeTV Because the risk would be in the future, which cannot be predicted in advance of it occurring. Jack Smith is on the job: he so far is going along with a process that is so far normal. One good sign is that she has scheduled the trial start for August 14, 2023. If she wanted to help Trump with delays she could have scheduled it for 2024. I suspect the older experienced judges in the circuit sat her down and schooled her ass.

The 11th Circuit won't allow her to go off the rails.

None of that is a new idea. You are predicting the past.

@porthosduvallon5301 I don't bet. But I also don't rush to judgment. I'll let Jack Smith take the lead on it.

@Africa893 It's actually more complicated than that. In some states, and Federally, judges are nominated by the executive branch -- governor or president -- and approved or not by the elected legislative branch. In other states they run for election, so tend to have histories of being "tough on crime" as their resume. And it is also the fact that the 60-plus "stolen election" claims filed by Trump were thrown out of court ALSO by TRUMP-nominated and -appointed judges. So it is actually possible for a judge, even though a human being, to apply the law to the facts, instead of applying their personal preferences to the facts. The Republican right-wing claims of "judicial activism" only means they disapprove the DECISIONS of "liberal" judges. Then when their judges get into power they -- like Scalia -- are routinely activist judges hiding behind BS claims about being "textualists" and "originalists".

I think Cannon, victim of self-inflicted reputational damage, has been subject of some involuntary "counseling" about how seditious subversion of the Constitution and laws is contrary to her duties as a judge.

@schadenfreude81 I am willing to let Jack Smith handle the issue as he sees it should be handled. I am willing, that is, to see if the 11th Circuit Appellate Court slap-downs of the judge taught he to be a judge not a political hack. It is also likely that equivalent indictment can be handed down in New Jersey.

@ajasen Trump is a PROVEN LIAR who CLAIMS to be a billionaire. And you are speculating about Cannon's actions that have not happened. And, yes: the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals does have that kind of influence: they already twice slapped her upside the head with a steel 2 X 4. Those were as much warnings as reversals.

@quintusantell2912 When humans are perfectly without fault -- when they are saints -- there won't be any corruption. One doesn't want corruption, and it should be extirpated wherever found, but it happens anyway. I am currently dealing with systemic corruption in the health "care" industry -- both medical facility side and insurance side. But that corruption is in a sense to be expected, as the US health "care" industry is based on monetization of illness; the sicker you are the greater the profits for such as insurers. Because the priority is profit, based upon exploitation of illness, not healthiness.

She has scheduled the trial beginning as August 14, 2023. If she wanted to rig it, she'd have scheduled it in 2024.
