It was JFK who submitted the Civil Rights and Voting Rights bills to Congress. It was LBJ who got them through Congress and signed them into law. And both were Democrats. @Bluberrides It was Jefferson -- who lived long before Lincoln -- who was for abolishing slavery -- IN WRITING -- and speculated what to do with the freed slaves, and that was to move them out of the colonies/United States. It is true that Lincoln's "Proclamation" ONLY freed the slaves in the Confederate states that were still fighting if they didn't lay down their arms. But at the same time Lincoln set the ball in motion for abolition of slavery. And, no: Lincoln didn't "use Blacks" to win the war -- that vast majority of the troops were WHITE. And it was Massachusetts -- see the film "Glory" -- that established an entirely-Black (except for its commander) troop to fight in the war to prove that Blacks were up to the task equally with whites. And it was Lincoln who worked to get the 13th Amendment passed. Remind us what the 13th Amendment did. You need to learn basic English literacy. And you need to learn the actual mixed-history. And your illiteracy in law is appalling.

@Bluberrides The 13th Amendment abolished slavery, dunce. And Lincoln was assassinated for his genuine opposition to slavery. Reality isn't black and white; it is complex and grey. It would be a difficult transition from growing up in a slave-owning society and arriving at opposing slavery. I suggest you learn from the actual history, instead of rejecting learning altogether in order to half-assed gripe about history you distort. Yes, your statement was that Lincoln deported Blacks out of the country. That is FALSE. Period. Full stop. End of story. It MATTERS -- FACTS MATTER -- that it was Jefferson who speculated on "deporting" Blacks -- but that didn't happen then either, because he didn't free his slaves except in his will after his death. I don't say that I "didn't know that" because you are spewing falsehoods. Learn the actual history and we'll discuss; continue to spew uninformed spleen and I'll simply ignore you. And learn how to write in basic English instead of hyped-up capitalization that is illiterate.

Learn to think for yourself in keeping with the foundation of our democracy: rule of law, beginning with the Constitution. Or, if you want to insist that the United States is a "Christian" nation, then admit that the genocide and slavery on which the country was founded were the foremost crimes committed by those "Christians". And if you were actually paying attention, know anything about foreign policy -- Biden's expertise -- and how to LISTEN to public diplomatic statements, then you would know that Biden has put Netanyahu in a box; he has got through to him that -- 1. Israel needs the United States more than the United States needs Israel. 2. The US provides money and weapons to Israel -- not the reverse. At the time VP Harris, Senator Schumer, and others made coordinated statements, Sec. of State Austin let out that the DOJ is evaluating the sorts of weapons the US will be providing to Israel -- the latter a shot across the Netanyahu gang's bow. 3. Weeks ago Netanyahu announced that the IDF was about to invade Gaza's city Rafah. Weeks later, after Biden began with, "That would be a mistake," the IDF HASN'T invaded Rafah. But I guess you presume to be an expert on foreign policy -- and have better judgment on the issue than Biden despite the fact that you have much less information than does Biden. And don't seem to be aware of the current status of the situation and how much Biden has cornered Netanyahu. Politics, diplomacy, democracy, take time; foreign policy, with as many relevant players in the loop as there are, takes time. Instant gratification is for the young -- which is why they are so often wrong.

You aren't Black. And the "Old Testament" was written by a tribe in the Middle East focused on advancing its supremacism against the other tribes. They invented a "God" who "coincidentally" spouts their supremacism and the hypocrisy necessary to it. That is why the "God" of that "Bible" opposes slavery when the tribe is enslaved, but approves slavery when the tribe is the slave owner. And, of course, that tribe's "God" ordered mass murders, even of children, when that advanced the tribe's interests.

@mikean1123 Are you ambivalent about the "merits" of being uneducated? Citizenship in a democracy isn't only about freedom; it is also about individual responsibility and civic duty. That's why those who are all and only about "freedom" delude themselves that giving all the responsibility to a dictator will relieve them of that burden and eliminate all impediments to their freedom. Hitler's general who ran the "Brown Shirts" (his "Proud Boys"/"Oath Keepers"/"3 Percenters") did what Hitler wanted: street violence against, first, Jews, and then non-Jews who dissented. They established Hitler's intended climate of fear. Then Hitler promised to eliminate the street violence/crime, and the "Night of the Long Knives" eliminated that general, and the "Brown Shirts".
