It didn't matter to them, any more than it does to Trump's dupes, because their bottom line is the REJECTION of the rule of law. They have an elaborate self-serving paranoid fantasy by means of which they justify their stubborn ignorance. They are even more out of it than so-called "sovereign citizens".

  5.  @Mark-db8id  There are LAWS which govern access to the Capitol. In addition, because of the pandemic, no tours were allowed. The Founders fundamental view is expressed in this provision in the 1784 New Hampshire constitution: ""Part I.--The Bill of Rights. "Article I. "III. When men enter into a state of society, they surrender up some of their natural rights to that society, in order to insure the protection of others [AND OF THEMSELVES]". Based on that principle is the first responsibility of gov't: protecting public health and safety.

And those elections laws put the ultimate conduct of elections in either -- and typically -- under the Sec. of State, or in a few states the Lieutenant Governor, which is in the Executive branch. Elsewhere in The Constitution -- all of which is in effect at the same time -- it is stipulated that there shall be elections. While the gov't conducts the elections, it is the citizens who do the voting. Those who know the legal history -- and you are not one of them -- that eventuated in the Constitution know that there were elections in the colonies beginning the 1600s, and that they continued through the 1700s.

Here's how mainstream non-extremist media functions: when it comes to the pandemic, as example, it interviews medical scientists; in other words, those who know what they're talking about. FOX and their ilk interview Republican politicians with expertise only in political propaganda. It works the same way with investigations and law: mainstream media interviews those who are experts in those fields and know what they're talking about. FOX and its fake news ilk interview Republican politicians whose only expertise of political party-line lying.

Democrats speaking about as Democratic legislative initiative makes sense. That is not the same as medical scientists speaking to issues of medical science, or legal experts speaking to issues of law. So now we see that not only are you a law-illiterate, and don't know anything about how legitimate elections work, but also don't know how to critically evaluate media: rejecting media out of hand because YOU don't know what to trust is not the fault of the media. Your failure to distinguish between facts -- such as medical science -- and other kinds of information -- is YOURS, not that of the media. Why do so many of your generation reject moderation in order to fall for sensationalist extremist junk media?   10.  @Mark-db8id  Pelosi's communications are IRRELEVANT to the issue, moron: the authority over deployment of the National Guard is in the Executive branch, under the Dept, of Defense, not under the Congress. The Constitution includes four Militia Clauses, which include the Second Amendment, which is no more or less than that. The first is this: "Art. I., S. 8., C. 15. The Congress shall have Power To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute [ENFORCE] the Laws of the Union, [and] SUPPRESS INSURRECTIONS." BASIC CIVICS: The Congress "provides for" by MAKING LAWS. The EXECUTIVE branch has the responsibility to ENFORCE the laws. In other words, the Founders SEPARATED the control of the military, and the funding and regulating of it. The Executive branch controls the military; the Congress establishes the funding and regulation of it. The delay in the deployment of the National Guard on January 6 is on the Dept. of Defense, which is in the EXECUTIVE branch, and under the president as Commander-in-Chief. That delay was DIRECTLY the responsibility of TRUMP.
