@lornenoland8098 The Secret Service is not subject to presidential appointment. Oronato was COMPROMISED by being made Trump's in-house head of his PERSONAL security. Most of the Capitol Police -- most police in the country -- were pro-Trump. In fact most support Republicans because of the claim by Republicans that they are pro-"law and order" and "-police". That includes the Secret Service. But there must be focus on fixing the switching of a Secret Service agent from that role to the role of private security for those they are to protect.

@q.e.d.9112 Secret Service exists BOTH to protect the protectee and the office occupied by the protectee. Being appointed POLITICALLY as one's private security is outside the Secret Service structure. That is an issue that needs to be addressed by the Secret Service rules. Note that Pence didn't trust the Secret Service on January 6 -- he doubtless knew of the plot, and that some in the Secret Service were in service to Trump, not in service to their oath to the Constitution. Trump had two options re. Pence: either he cooperate, or he be got out of the way. The Secret Service -- had Pence not refused -- would have got Pence out of the way.

The Washington, D.C. National Guard is under the US Army, because unlike all the states D.C. has no governor, who is in the states the commander-in-chief. And the Army is under the Sec. of Defense, who is under the president as Commander-in-Chief. The Republicans who blame Pelosi for the lack of security know they are lying on that point, but they rely on the ignorance of the chain of command among their base to be believed. And others who knew him have also said he's said things, then later denied he'd said them. If there was "embellishment" of the facts, then that was by Oronato.

@Mark-db8id EVIDENCE? Exactly: you couldn't care less about FACTS. Clue: Hutchinson testified under oath. Oronato and Engel aren't and are not presenting themselves to the media to be interviewed directly. Trump will be indicted. Period. Full stop. Even while you believe he was surrounded by criminals but "didn't know it".

@Mark-db8id Where is your EVIDENCE, punk.

@Mark-db8id And others in the Secret Service state that they heard the same story from Oronato. And others who know him report that he's said things that he later denied saying. And there is a key issue: he was made, by Trump, head of his private security. That COMPROMISED Oronato. Were he ETHICAL he would have REFUSED that position. But that's how mob bosses work: they compromise the individual so the individual, in reporting the facts about the boss, would be admitting to being compromised.

Oronato was also made, by Trump, chief of his personal security -- which compromised Oronato. And other Secret Service agents are reporting that Oronato told them the same story he told Hutchinson.
