  1. I had a small cube heater that had a plastic case and a fan, the fan failed and so did something else and I was awakened by the dogs jumping on my bed to seeing a 2 foot high flame coming off the space heater 4 feet from my bed!

One warning is never buy a heater whose case is made of PLASTIC! get one that's all metal like one those "milk house" heaters, why? because I had a small cube heater that had a plastic case and a fan, the fan failed and so did something else and I was awakened by the dogs jumping on my bed to seeing a 2 foot high flame coming off the space heater 4 feet from my bed! I jumped out of bed, yanked the power cord out of the wall outlet and carried the burning heater to the door and threw it in the snow. All that was left of it was the metal fan, coils and screws. To think that UL or any one would allow 1,500 watts of heat energy to be enclosed in flammable PLASTIC that will catch fire if there is a failure, is outrageous. AFter that I bought an all metal "milk house" heater and later one of the all metal radiator style oil filled heaters.
