  2. Another great video, thanks. Here in Austria, they try to distinguish Fremdwörter or "foreign words" from Erbwörter or "inherited (Indogermanic) words". But their lists are often wrong. For instance, Fenster is often considered an Erbwort, but it's actually from Latin fenestra, "window". This is one of the relatively few examples of words where the German is Latin based, and the English goes back to Protoindoeuropean without having gone through Latin. cheers from a fellow language freak in rainy Vienna, Scott
