  4. Yeah, if I knew a cat 3 or 4 was gonna hit my tiny barrier island or was just 200 miles away I would have left. It's not like the hurricane was headed for Galveston, Texas... Sheesh. Stop blaming the authroties. When we lived in Jax, FL we were in Alabama by the time the hurricane was projected to hit Melbourne/Space Coast. We don't play around... and hurricanes almost never do damage to Jacksonville... except directly on the beach or directly on the river by downtown... two places anyone can say no too.

  10.  @codycoleman2434  I lived in Jax, FL which is one of the safer places to live in the state when it comes to hurricanes. Florida is one of the cheapest states you can live in (with the exception of the rising insurance/rent prices) , there is no state income taxes, there are very few toll roads, there is no annual car inspection or car tax. Water and electricity is cheaper since the heat isn't running, and you save an hour a day not scrubbing ice and snow off your car. Did I mention no city income taxes too. ...with that said... everyone should save money for a hotel when a hurricane comes! We always left Jax and they should have too.

  15.  @DA-wx9oz  We were in Alabama by the time the hurricane hit the east coast a few years back. And we lived in Jax, FL, a place that only floods in a handful of places.
