Well, money needs to come from somewhere. Do you take it away from schools? Or take it away from road maintenance? It is a shame that the Texas is in the shape she's in. And, it would have been much better off if it had been better managed in prior decades so that current costly measures to maintain, let alone repair, weren't needed.

What is the image from at the end? 35:00 or so. Also, it's the sad truth. That 100 year old steel gets soggy! I'd read a report of the underwater hull survey where the guy attempted to push on the hull to test its strength and punched right through. The reason there is s low priority for finding the money to dry dock her is that if she can no longer maintain buoyancy and "sinks," she'll just settle down a few feet lower; she's in water almost as shallow as her draft is deep.
