@janetprice85 Your example is exactly right and what your mom said highlights how actually being a parent is a full time job and way more involved than getting pregnant and popping out a kid and meeting the parent's own basic needs of food, shelter, clothing. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad your mom took the time to raise you and your siblings. Anyway, my point was that a parent actually being a full time parent is rare these days and very undervalued. People forget that kids aren't little adults. They're kids.

You bring up a good point. However, I'd say the administrators should be responsible for not getting these kids help BEFORE it gets to that point. There's no reason a kid should be so dissociated that he's able to premeditate murder.

@janetprice85 Part of what we're seeing is the payoff of decades of Feminism teaching women that they don't need to pick a good husband and father and STAY MARRIED to him because women can work and raise kids on their own without any compromise in quality of their life or their kids' lives. The OTHER problem, in large part enabled by the first, is even when the parents stay together, BOTH are working to afford a "normal" standard of living. That's a result of businesses seeing the women entering the workforce as a good opportunity to raise prices and increase profits (much the way businesses have used "increasing lowest wages" as a similar excuse). So, once both parents were working, there's really been no way to get where they can afford one parent to actually be the child mentor, guide, and parent to the kids. Feminism forgot to teach women that being a mother IS a full time job and worthwhile career.
