@seanyhide8155 Zalensky wants the military aid to make it untenable for Russia to remain in Ukraine. The only way there can be peace is if Russia leaves Ukraine or, if Ukraine is willing to give up territory for an actual peace, then it will have to come with actual guarantee of security, not the toothless sort of Budapest Memorandum that had only rainbows, sunshine, and hope as a deterrent.
In short, Ukraine fights until Russia withdraws (which they will do at some point, just as Russia withdrew from Georgia, Syria, and Afghanistan when their invasion faltered and became untenable) or Ukraine may give up some occupied territory if it's allowed into NATO.
The latter is less likely than the former. Putin is desperately hoping Trump will cut US aid and that Europe won't take its defense seriously because Russia can only keep up the current loss rate, on equipment, men, and economically for about another year. At that point, the tide will turn increasingly in Ukraine's favor if Russia continues to drag the war out.
