@seanyhide8155 Zalensky wants the military aid to make it untenable for Russia to remain in Ukraine. The only way there can be peace is if Russia leaves Ukraine or, if Ukraine is willing to give up territory for an actual peace, then it will have to come with actual guarantee of security, not the toothless sort of Budapest Memorandum that had only rainbows, sunshine, and hope as a deterrent. In short, Ukraine fights until Russia withdraws (which they will do at some point, just as Russia withdrew from Georgia, Syria, and Afghanistan when their invasion faltered and became untenable) or Ukraine may give up some occupied territory if it's allowed into NATO. The latter is less likely than the former. Putin is desperately hoping Trump will cut US aid and that Europe won't take its defense seriously because Russia can only keep up the current loss rate, on equipment, men, and economically for about another year. At that point, the tide will turn increasingly in Ukraine's favor if Russia continues to drag the war out.

@seanyhide8155 Your statement about the UK prepaying for aid is incorrect. In fact (which anyone can easily verify), is that the UK finished paying off its WWII debt to the United States in 2006. Look it up.

At this point, we can say "The Russian economy is unsustainable." It's been said that Putin can't afford to lose in Ukraine (politically) and that he can't afford to win either (because once war spending stops, that MASSIVE stimulus being immediately pulled once war is over will cause economic collapse because the basics of normal economy have been destroyed in Russia).

Trump already tried to end the war without involving Ukraine or Europe when Trump, as a civilian non elected official, prevented aid to Ukraine for SEVEN MONTHS by ordering the Republican Speaker of the House to impede the democratic process by preventing a VOTE. Putin thinks he's a Master Strategist. Trump thinks he's a Master Negotiator. Trump trying to make a peace without including Ukraine is ridiculous. Trump is one of the people who need someone to break into their home so they can have perspective. Trump suggested Ukraine shouldn't have gotten into a war with Russia. Again, people who've had their home broken into...shouldn't have had their home broken into. #RussianLogic

Lukashenko invited Wagner to Belarus so that he can hire them to protect his dictatorship when Putin's regime falls. Without Putin's and Russian military support, Lukashenko would've been driven out of office after the last "election". Russia won't have the military resources to defend Lukashenko from the next protests or overthrow attempt in the wake of Putin's departure.

@drewd2 You're missing the point and the lesson that you can't achieve peace by being a sellout and trying to appease and placate an aggressive, belligerent, megalomaniac. Ronald Reagan reminded us of this again in the 80s when he said, "Simple-minded appeasement or wishful thinking about our adversaries is folly." Make no mistake, Russia is a geopolitical rival and Russian leadership views America as an enemy. Treating Russia like a friend is only making us look weaker. Putin has violated EVERY deal that Russia has made regarding Ukraine since 1992. You cannot simply "negotiate a deal" for peace with Russia. Putin would view it as a Russian loss both to the US and to Ukraine. There is no way to negotiate a peace deal with Russia until it has been made untenable for Russia to remain in Ukraine. So, that means war will have to continue until Russia falls in deep enough internal termoil that it can't continue to devote resources to the war in Ukraine. The war will continue until a more pragmatic leader takes over from Putin or until Ukraine has been given enough resources to drive Russian leadership to the negotiating table so that Russia can negotiate for the peaceful withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. Everyone in Ukraine wants peace. Zalensky wants peace. Westerners who support Ukraine want peace. However, you can't have peace by rolling over for Russia...or, at least not without Ukraine losing its culture, language, and identity.
