  2. So, you're saying they should kick, punch, and stab the dogs to make training more "real"? Interesting. Also, dogs don't understand things the way humans do. Your anthropomorphizing and trying to look at the dog's situation through YOUR experiences and understanding. To the dog, it's all play and the handlers working to channel the dog's instincts.

  4. The dogs actually carry a rank, usually one rank higher than the trainer. Dogs aren't abandoned during a deployment. However, they may change handlers due to normal personnel rotation, injury, promotion, etc.
