  1. The other thing about the wartime government spending in Russia is that the government printing money to spend on the war is considered in the GDP. So, it makes the economy look like it's still strong. But, it's only strong until the check clears the bank and private companies are hurting because of the things you mentioned and the measures like international companies having to buy Rubles with foreign profits.

  2.  @ericcook8254  USSR also wasn't having it's oil refining capacity eliminated. The fact that Russia is losing money selling oil and buying refined products will catch up.
