#DictatorProblems It's why Russia has a military, a home guard, and the FSB armed personnel. Can't have all the troops under one command as that increases risk of a military coup which is every dictator's greatest fear.

Gerasimov is still in charge of the army, at least in Ukraine. However, Bortnikov is probably weighing his timing. You're right that there's no reason for Bortnikov to need Putin. Currently, it's the other way around.

10:31 This isn't a trust issue. It's actually a manpower issue. Russia doesn't have enough of any reserve personnel in any one of the 3 military branches for one of them to respond with a sufficient force. So, Putin's instructing all 3 to gather a hodgepodge force from whatever troops aren't dedicated to Ukraine. Putin, rightfully so, doesn't want to give Ukraine the opportunity to go on offense against weakened lines inside Ukraine. However, by not pulling enough of a coherent group out of Ukraine, he's sacrificing territory and troops in Russia. Dilemmas (with no good options) instead of problems (which can be solved). Despite what the bots say about Russia having plenty of reserve troops and more people overall, Russia has ground its army to dust. This is highlighted in the recent "Downfall" parody "Putin reacts to Ukraine invading Russia" with Fuhrov Putler saying "we've used up too much of our army in Ukraine."

Search up the parody "Putin reacts to Ukraine invading Russia" before the Downfall people copyright strike it (they're pretty aggressive about the Downfall memes)

@Katoshi_Takagumi apparently, if you try to find the memes, they're off youtube. For whatever reason whoever holds the copyright doesn't like the scene being used in the memes.

@Katoshi_Takagumi awe, heck. YouTube will probably remove our comments talking about it.

@ThePaulv12 yeah. We all saw Gerasimov showing exactly what kind of "accurate" info Putin's people give him.
