Russians are so cynical, belligerent, and aggressive that you can't talk peace until they NEED to, as was demonstrated in their withdrawal from Afghanistan and Syria. Syria just showed us that Putin's Russia absolutely can negotiate a peaceful withdrawal when it's become apparent that staying isn't possible.

We're currently in the "punching them in the face" part of that equation. Russia will absolutely realize that staying in Ukraine is untenable once their Soviet equipment inheritance runs out at the end of 2025 and their limited new build production doesn't permit offensive operations. The Russian economy also continues melting down. Russia was a paper bear.
