Ukraine was also a big chunk of Russia's power during the Great War

Territory actually isn't minimal related to how much territory Russia has taken in a year versus how much Ukraine took in a month.

Something to think about as Russia continues moving forward in Ukraine while Ukraine is moving forward in Russia: the Russian territory is more valuable than any other territory in Ukraine as a hedge against Trump winning the US presidential election (with his freeze the front lines or territory for peace "peace" plan), other backdoor negotiations between Russia and Western countries behind Ukraine's back, and pre-empts any push that Putin might make for a cease fire (which any intelligent person knows is just giving Putin a chance to reconstitute and re-arm his military before beginning again) or any freeze the front demands. No territory in Ukraine can do what that territory in Russia can do at a negotiation. That's in addition to Ukraine hoping it would take pressure of troops in Ukraine. The war will end via negotiations. Those negotiations will include conditions for the safe withdrawal of Russian troops back to Russia and the return of both countries to pre 2014 borders. However, that negotiation will only occur once remaining in Ukraine has become untenable for Russia. That will likely include Putin being replaced by someone less delusional and more pragmatic. Putin is happy to throw every Russian life if he thought it might earn him victory and the legacy he desires of re-unifying a former Soviet area.

Russians don't realize how many soldiers' lives they've wasted. Their army is casualties. Russians still buy into the "Great War" version of Russia that Putin tries to sell. Russia can't field a million man army let alone a 20 million man army of WWII when Russia was fighting the fight that Ukraine is now fighting. That fight is for survival. Russia currently isn't fighting for survival.

You seem to think life without lines for basic items like toilet paper and not having Levi's or Coca Cola isn't "great"! You silly Westerner! (sarcasm) Most Russians are too young to remember the "good old days" and the older folks won't want to talk about the bad things.
