We need more car control to prevent these needless deaths. It's way too easy for people to get a license and anyone who can afford one can buy a 4,000 lbs missile. Seriously, most drivers are the equivalent of a gun owner, walking down the street twirling a loaded revolver on their finger. Cars kill as many people annually, when suicide is discounted, and cars are a leading cause of death for people under age 18. Almost every one of those deaths is preventable. Most car crashes aren't "accidents" and shouldn't be referred to as such. It's maintaining the excuse it's OK to operate a deadly weapon negligently. Driving is dangerous and people who don't understand that and aren't willing or able to use necessary caution and proactive defensive driving shouldn't be allowed to operate a vehicle on public roads. Heck. There isn't even a Constitutional argument against more or more sensible vehicle control.
