These guys made their fortunes by stepping on regular people, with Putin's blessing. My heart does not bleed for these dirty, spoiled, privileged oligarchs who won't even denounce Putin's actions.

3:07 give 1 example from history where Russia cared about the condition of Ukraine or the plight of Ukrainians. Putin doesn't need the territory to be livable, he just needs it to be his. His main ambition with Ukraine was to have it as a buffer zone between Russia and NATO. The condition of the territory is irrelevant for that purpose.

What Russia forgot about when Germany invaded and shelled cities into oblivion is that the rubble made it difficult to move equipment through and the ruins made excellent hiding places for the Russian defenders. Putin seriously hasn't read any military history, other Soviet era propaganda, or he'd realize all the mistakes he's making. Most recently, the USA learned that it's impossible to keep a friendly government in power without permanently occupying a region. Putin forgot about Russia's own experience in Afghanistan and how much man portable missiles are a game changer.

Nah, they probably break even at worst considering how backed up it is on both sides of the canal.

2:09 it's not just Russia moving the troops so they can be used to fight somewhere. Russia also told Ukrainian personnel, who signed up to work for Rosatom at the plant, to relocate to Crimea.

Keep in mind that in Russia, 2 years of military service is required. So, the newest recruits didn't have a choice to sign up or not.

@Freefs1 - Crimea is part of Ukraine. When Ukraine voted to leave Russia's Soviet Union, in 1992 during the collapse of such, every region in Ukraine (including Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea) voted to leave the crumbling Soviet Union. Your question is something like, "how is that different than the US wanting Texas?" if Mexico had recently invaded the US and seized Texas. If we drag your logic out further, why isn't all of Europe part of Italy? I mean those are Roman territories, right??

1:20 Well, obviously, if she didn't have a tactical military garden she wouldn't have shells flying over. It's very frightening for Putin when he thinks what this Babushka would do do to him with one of her cucumbers!

@Holden_McHock - Kiev was being surrounded by advance troops that were air dropped in. Russia has not been able to resupply these troops. Russian aircraft are being shot down and the armored advance has stalled out. "Surrounding Kiev" is not an accurate picture of the situation. The advance units were pushed out of the military airfield near Kiev and only have a toe hold in some outskirts ov Kiev.

Russia calls in Chechen thugs to assist Russian invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine receives volunteers from everywhere.

Wow. Germany was the most stalwart country against sending military aid to Ukraine with their policy of "not sending military aid to conflict zones." Excellent, Germany! Putin wanted to control Ukraine and split NATO and EU. His actions have done the complete opposite. Kudos to Ukrainian president Zelensky for staying in Kiev and saying, "I need more ammunition, not a ride (out of Ukraine)" when US offered to get him out. It's good to see Germany granting his request, especially in light of the similarity between Russia's current actions and reasoning with German actions and reasoning preceding WWII.

@truthserum00 - or, look at people leaving? The plant has been under constant surveillance since the dam failure.

I wonder if Petro Poroshenko feels guilty, now, about his scam to buy coal from the Russian occupied eastern part of the country after such transactions were outlawed after the 2014 Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine. Basically, he was trying to profit personally and financially support the occupying forces. Now, he's here talking about how horrible Putin is and how much he wants to defend Ukraine. This is a true politician.

What I see is a lot of trucks. Those are probably the fuel, ammo, and food that hasn't been able to get through to resupply the advance units that were unable to link up with the paratroopers to clear the way for establishment of the Russian supply lines. Basically, all of that materiel will be property of Ukraine when its abandoned by the young conscripts guarding it as it's parked in the road.

There was an officer who similarly refused to shoot a suspect attempting "suicide by police". The suspect was brandishing the gun, waving it in the air (unloaded, iirc, of course officer doesn't know) and saying "shoot me", like in this vid. The officer tries to talk the guy down. 2 other officers arrive and promptly shoot the suspect. The officer is fired for not shooting him on the grounds that he froze. The officer, a USMC veteran of Afghanistan said that he had actual experience determining what was a threat and what wasn't. He was chastised, berated, and fired. The fact is, in far too many police departments de-escalation is "cowardice". I'd guess we don't see too many vids where the officer didn't shoot for this reason. Stephen Mader is the officer's name. Interesting story. I'm glad this recommendation showed up. In looking for his name I was able to find out what happened. He was awarded 175k for for being fired for not shooting. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/feb/12/stephen-mader-west-virginia-police-officer-settles-lawsuit

@ChrisTheMemeMan - bad cops are absolutely a minority. However, it's the bad cops that cost citizen's lives.

Confirmed. I hadn't heard from a Ukrainian friend in Dnipro for 3 days and wasn't sure if they stayed or fled. Incidentally, she's ethnic Russian and fled with her daughter from Donetsk as the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine reached that city. They stayed because the trains were too full and then diverted to take refugees away from other areas. Her last text was "can't talk more now, air raid siren and we must again hide."

Nuclear terrorism is not a normal part of war. Russia is now worse than Iran and North Korea.
