@sweethistortea While I agree that genetically are the descendants (btw I don't subscribe to afrocentrist bs), can you say the same about their culture? I mean yes, culturally all people change throughout the ages, but it was not a "natural" change. It was not their choice. It was forced upon them by Arab invaders/occupiers. As a result, right now, Egyptians speak a language that has nothing to do with their origins and believe in a religion which is also unrelated to their roots. Well on the other hand, still holding to this language and religion is your choice I guess? I just don't understand how the hell Egyptians accept this. Mauritania is trying to get rid of of Arab influence and I personally commend them for that. Lastly, the fact the international name of Egypt is "ARAB republic of Egypt" isn't helping either and only gives more fuel to afrocentrists clowns.

There are so many similarities between Ancient Greek Pagan customs and Greek Orthodox Christian customs that at some point you could say that the most prominent differences between the two faiths are the names and some rituals here and there. I will give you an example: Here in Greece we have many churches dedicated to Virgin Mary. Each Virgin Mary Church is dedicated to different aspect of Virgin Mary or a different legend of Virgin Mary. So these Churches get names like "Virgin Mary the Champion General" or "Virgin Mary the Protector of Mothers" or "Virgin Mary the Snake tamer" or "The sweet kissing Virgin Mary". She has over 300 different names/titles and the overwhelming majority of our churches are dedicated to her. Now, let's go back in time. To Ancient Greece, do you know which goddess has the most temples with each temple being dedicated to a different aspect/story of her? Athena! And that's just one of the many similarities.

@jaymicafella6292 History doesn't just happen. People make history and sometimes this "history" is more akin to a criminal record. I guess from your reply earlier that you are a Jew? Then maybe you belong in Israel. Btw, modern Israel for me is one of the best examples where the natives finally get their land back from occupiers after thousands of years. As long as the natives of a land exist they will try to get their land back eventually no matter how much time passes. On the other hand, I also have the belief that genetics are irrelevant to one's identity. For example, you could belong with the Australian natives. However, that means adopting their culture and identity while deleting anything else. Which in turn also means that if these natives ever fight to get their land back you will fight with them. If they still don't accept you because they live under the delusion that genetics get in the way, well, that's on them for being irrational and on you for choosing to throw your lot with them.

@jaymicafella6292 Of course I agree, the best recourse is moving forward without wars and hate. But one cannot move forward if they don't acknowledge the gravity of the current situation which is the result of history-old crimes. We tried that here in Greece for the past 30 years. It was an attempt to start the so called "Greco-Turkish friendship". We hoped that Turkey would also get into the EU, which essentially would make travel between us easier while also ensuring Greek people would have their human rights secured under a Turkish government. Trade, travel and cultural exchange would become easier. At the end of all this if Greek natives wanted to go and live on their lands in Minor Asia they could do it. That was the dream. You know what happened instead? We were pacifying Turkey for three decades which resulted into Turkey becoming progressively ultranationalist while here in Greece a good part of naive (and usually leftist) people still believe there can be any sort of friendship with an enemy who wishes nothing less than our total annihilation. Moden Turks never ever acknowledged that what they did to the Greeks of Asia Minor was evil. They have always benn feeling proud about it. We cannot move forward without wars under these circumstances.

I do not know much about the history of Australia (so I could be wrong and feel free to correct me) however I sympathize with any native in the world who wants to be rid of their foreign occupier.. I agree with Metatron, however I think your case is different from the case he presents. Those people could be avoiding talking about their culture and History to you simply because they do not like your guts. And why they don't like you? Well, maybe because you occupy their land.

Aristotle was an advocate of the Panhellenic Idea. According to that ideology, the Greeks were at their best when they united against the Persians. So they should be united again as one and counter attack the Persian Empire. Aristotle was Alexander's teacher so it's obvious who set him on this path. Of course the Panhellenic Idea had its share of supporters and haters throughout the whole Greek World. So the only way to make it a reality was to enforce it. This is why he fought the other Greek City States before attacking Persia and this is why he was particular ruthless with Greek mercs fighting for Persia. To his eyes they were the worst traitors. Traitors of their own kind. Enemies of the Panhellenic Idea.

Hello Metatron, I do not know if you will read this but I recently discovered your channel and I am binging through your videos. I really like how you back your arguments up, especially when discussing controversial historical subjects. I heard that in Italy they teach you that the Roman Empire ended when Rome fell in 476 AD. However, most of us know that the Roman Empire really fell in the year of 1453, with the fall of Constantinople. I would like to hear your opinion on that subject. Was the Eastern Roman Empire (a.k.a the "Byzantines") Greek? Roman? Both? This is a subject where opinions can differ widely. I had back and forth arguments on this subject with people of almost all nationalities (Greek and Italian included). Each person has their own opinion on the subject. What's yours?

@jaymicafella6292 Ok let's address your points one by one. Not to change your mind necessarily but just to make you understand where people like me are coming from. First of all, believing the crimes of your ancestors have nothing to do with you is a delusion. Especially when you help in perpetuating their crimes by still occupying foreign lands and supporting a non-native government. If you feel like you don't have anything to do with these crimes, pack your things and go where your ancestors came from, because you do not belong in Australia from the native point of view. I can give you hundreds of examples where the "I wasn't even born when these mistakes/crimes happened" card is just not valid. Time alone doesn't fix anything, that's just a convenient excuse for occupiers to sleep better at night. Occupation on Australia was something evil when it first happened approximately 200 years ago and still is 200 years after. And will always be something bad that needs to be corrected from the native point of view. Secondly, you think the European occupation is responsible for how supposedly good is life in Australia right now... But "good" for whom? For you? Did you ask the natives if they want to live under western culture? Did they ever have a choice in the matter? Also, how is foreign occupation linked to "living comfortably" exactly? Couldn't this "comfortable way of life" become a modern reality under a native-controlled Australia as well? Couldn't this technological advancement come through trade and cultural exchange instead of war, slaughter and occupation?? Lastly, in the bigger scope of things why you think me or you are important? I mean my existence is insignificant in the face of a better life for the entirety of my people. I am a Greek, if I had to give up on my existence to undo the whole gradual turkish invasion and the systematic destruction of the Greco-Roman world I would gladly do it.

@owlOFTHEgods-t7z All religions and all traditions have a practical side.. I can give you myriad of practical Christian examples.. No, the ancients were not purely practical either. For example, they had traditions involving warfare. Traditions that didn't made any sense and only served to hold them back militarily. Herodotus even states this himself. Also, many of the Ancient Greeks were against sodomy as well as stated in this video. So please take your unjustified hatred against Christianity somewhere else and stop glorifying paganism.

@owlOFTHEgods-t7z Again wrong. They are literally the same thing. Example: The ancients thought of thunder as Zeus wrath. The Christians did the same but they thought of it as God's wrath. Both observed the same phenomenon and both gave fictional explanations. Sodomy and polygamy raise your chances of getting sick which is the practical reason they are forbidden in both Christianity and Paganism. Christians thought of sickness as God'a punishment, Ancient Greeks gave the exact same fictional explanation to sickness, they just called it "divine punishment" instead. The similarities between Paganism and Christianity are astonishing for many reasons. They are both practical and flourished in the same geographic area under the same people. So I implore you to stop trying to force a narrative that is not factual.

Does Greece today has Slavic toponyms in some areas? Yes, why? Because Slavs invaded and occupied the Greek peninsula during the 6th century AD, and while they were there they gave their own names to everything around them. Some (not all) of these names persisted to this day. That's the only reason, nothing more nothing less. Sorry to ruin your narrative. 🤣 You were nowhere near our lands during the time of Alexander the Great.

@shaunsteele6926 First of all the DNA results for one person you know doesn't constitute enough evidence for anything whatsoever when we talk about whole ethnic groups.. Lastly and most importantly.... DNA is irrelevant...! Many Turks (especially those of the Western coast), may have 80% or 90% Greek DNA within them. For many Greeks the opposite might be true as well. Does it matter though??? Does their culture, religion or (most importantly) language has anything to do with Alexander the Great? No... Also, Alexander the Great was Greek, not a Slav, something these fake "Macedonians" refuse to accept.... If they spoke Greek at least and their fake identity wasn't just an excuse for a future invasion on modern Greece, then no one would have a problem with them and their identity. Hell, if they claimed we have a common Hellenic Ancestry we would have been in quite friendly terms. However, that's not the case, as their fake identity is heavily linked to historical and border revisionism. So please, try not to fuel their propaganda.....
