  1. Greek OVERWHELMING majority (and the original natives of this island) wanted to unite with Greece.. Turkish minority didn't like the fact they were the descendants of some Steppes colonists who came to live on Cyprus by force.. Also, Greeks had many reasons to not like Turks since they massacred the whole Greek population of Asia Minor..
