kuvikina Yeah sure, tell me who speaks the Byzantine language today???? Oh that's right.... The Greeks... Same people, same languange, same religion.. "BuT GrEekS aRe noT byZaNTines!!" What a joke....
38
@miraclemaker1418 And why should we care about that?? Haven't you stolen enough from the Greek World as it is? You want more? Even his proposed "solution" gives Turkey the biggest part of the pie.. As a person who lives in Rhodes I will never accept reduced territorial waters of my island.. And if Turkey wants to invade for the millionth time.. Molon lave!!!
17
@miraclemaker1418 And "hiding behind UNCLOS", which is btw the LEGAL thing to do, is the argument itself.....
11
@Kickboxer7267 According to UNCLOS it belongs to Greece though! :) So here is a relevant argument to choke on...
9
HahHahaha what??? 😂😂 Greek homeland has been a part of the Byzantine empire for over one and a half millennium!! It's actual the opposite.. All Greeks are Byzantines, however all Byzantines were not Greeks.. Because as with all big Empires it was multiethnic... However, since you admitted the culture of Eastern Roman Empire (the real name of the Byzantine Empire) was Greek, that means there is no more rightful successor to the Roman legacy than the Greeks.... This is exactly why most Greeks were calling themselves "Romans" (Ρωμιοί) till the 20th century......
8
@DerBoss If Turkey doesn't recognise it they should stop implementing it wherever it is advantageous for them though! 😂 It makes you look like hypocrites!! ☺ That's right, without UNCLOS you cannot even have EEZ, let alone 12 nautic miles in the Black Sea.... Your argument just proved Turkey is a rogue country..
7
Boris Erdogan Said the Neo-Ottoman clown....
4
@axtrait Whatever you say... Molon labe!!! :)
4
Too much time in the video basically crying "but the LAW is not fair 😫"!! Well, the law does not care about your feelings, or your biased pro-Turkish reasoning...
4
But UNCLOS Greece
3
@g.samaras2371 Byzantine language = Greek That was my point.....
3
kuvikina Yeah sure, "the lost civilization of Greeks" after all, the Greeks were mythical people like the Atlanteans... Or better yet, they were aliens and they have returned to their spaceships, forever leaving Earth.. What else? Is Earth flat as well???
3
@onderguler1568 But you do implement it where it suits you.. And Turkey doesn't have a claim on our seas, it doesn't matter what it recognizes and what it doesn't.. Especially when you take advantage of UNCLOS for the Black Sea! ;)
3
@alperenyurdakul1464 I live on Rhodes.. Why should my island have reduced territorial waters? Because of pro-Turkish biased sentiments? We should just implement the law and get it done with...... No conflict needed.. But of course you are not satisfied with what you have already stolen from the Greek World, you want more...
3
@goldenlegionindustries9304 That's obvious.. However, you forgot to mention their cargo and passenger ships can pass freely.. They are mad the law doesn't allow them military passage.. And I ask you.. Why should we let their military ships pass through the Aegean? To repeat the Cyprus events of 1973... ??
3
@miguelmontenegro3520 Yes, even today if you use the Greek word "Ρωμιός" (Roman) you refer to the Greeks.. This is what the average Greek will understand by listening to that word.. Of course there is a greek minority who rejects their greco-roman legacy, in an attempt to reconnect with their Ancient Culture and religion (pre-Roman period).. They tend to be "dodecatheists" (they believe in the the Olympian Gods) and blame the Christian Greek majority for everything bad that is happening in the country.. Weird bunch of people.. In my opinion, a well educated person acknowledges the Christian faith as part of the Greek culture (the first New Testament was written in Greek).. It's part of our cultural evolution over the 3000 years of our known history...
2
@StratosIceman Oh here it is.. One of the dodecatheists I was talking about earlier.. You are bit late, I expected you will show yourself sooner.. Nothing triggers you most than mentioning the Greeks were Byzantines..
2
Philip Manousakis Don't bother.. The Roman Empire had Greek as its official language, it had Greek Emperors and Greek culture.. Not to mention the Christian orthodox faith is Greek as well.. The first New Testament was written in Greek.. But this clown will tell you "the Romans subjugated the Greeks".. Such a joke... He is a salty pagan for sure..
2
@StratosIceman The Romans were speaking Greek even before they "subjugated" them.. They admired Greek culture and made it a part of themselves.. Again, the Roman Empire had a lot Greek Emperors, Greek Language, Greek Religion.. The fact you compare the above with the Ottoman occupation means you are not just a pagan clown.. You are the whole circus.....
2
@StratosIceman Write that again, it got deleted!!! 😂😂😂 I can only see the beginning of it through my notifications.. Thanks for confirming you are a pagan though.. Looks like I was right to expect you would appear here eventually.. However, you know what? I am not even a devout Christian! It's 2020!! Who the hell cares about religion in the western world? Oh that's right.. Pagans do...! 😂😂😂 No this is not about Christianity, this is about Historical accuracy.. Your attempt at twisting Greek History to fit your pagan narrative disgusts me..
2
@axtrait HahahahahahahHahaha!
2
@axtrait Not to mention that the language was one of the many arguments.. Again, Greek Religion, Greek People, Greek Emperors, Greek Language, Greek customs = Eastern Roman Empire! Each one alone could mean nothing.. Altogether? They lead to a conclusion.. A conclusion you will never accept for obvious reasons Mustafa...
2
kuvikina Hahaha absolutely pitiful.. He doesn't know the latin word for the nation of the Hellenes was "Graecia".. He doesn't know the English word "Greece" derives from the Latin word "Graecia".. Hahahahahaha! What a clown!! Where are you from? Tito's failed experiment? Or Hojas' post apocalyptic hellhole??
2
He is an Azeri if other comments are to be believed.. What did you expect? Of course the clown will support Turkey using any means possible..
2
My Life Also, if you don't like the law leave Anatolia.. Like most Greeks were forced centuries ago.. Here.. Follow your own advice...
2
@Kickboxer7267 You are the perfect example of why all these "we do not want your islands" morons are wrong! :)
2
@driverpainter HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thanks for the joke, you made my day.. Out of all the ridiculous theories I have heard this takes the prize..! :D
1
@driverpainter Hahahahaha! 😂😂😂😂 You remind me a Briton who was insisting we were Arabs! 😂😂😂😂😂
1
@StratosIceman Go offer an hetatomb to Zeus or something and leave us alone...
1
@StratosIceman I cannot respect pagans who want to twist Greek History to fit their narrative.. The Christian faith and the Roman culture are part of the Greek History.. And the Roman "subjugation" is one of the greatest things that ever happened to us because it unified us and allowed us to prosper whlle keeping our culture alive.. And it should be mentioned our culture did not just stay alive... It got mixed with Roman elements and got elevated above all others!!!! Today you live in a Greco-Roman (Byzantine) world and you would reject that legacy for what? The Olympic Gods? I know you are sad you cannot destroy Parthenon in the process of performing pagan rituals in it but try to live with reality...
1
Philip Manousakis Good! Now try to explain that historical fact to the pagan above because I am sure he still doesn't get it.. And I have a difficulty replying to him without insulting him.. He just claimed the Greeks were "occupied" for over 2000 years.... 😂😂😂 How you have enough willpower to still reply respectfully to him is beyond me.....
1
@StratosIceman Here clown.. Get educated a bit.. https://youtu.be/Dp45meLpI_I I would cite academic papers but I am sure it is too much for you....
1
Philip Manousakis I know bro... This pagan needs to open a few books.. He rejects the legacy of the most glorious culture in History for his pagan religion.. This is sad and wrong on many levels....
1
@axtrait Depends clown.. You cannot compare today's society with those of ancient or medieval times for a myriad of reasons.. So your question is completely out of place.. We now speak English for different reasons and not because we admire the English culture in any way.. Whereas Romans could enforce Latin whenever they wanted.. Guess what though.. THEY DID NOT!!
1
@axtrait Hahahahahahahahahhahahah! Whatever, you say mongoloid...
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης "Occupied" with everything spoken and written in Greek? With Greek Emperors on the throne? With Greek religion? If that's your definition of "occupation" then please can someone resurrect the Romans to "occupy" us again?? And yes there were Emperors and citizens of other ethnicities as well.. As with all Empires, the Byzantine one was multiethnic.. However, it doesn't matter as the culture which was predominantly GREEK never changed.. Nationalism was born at the start of 19th century, till that point, people would associate their identity with religion more than their ethnicitiy (not that ethnicity did not matter, but religion always played the first role).. And spare me your naming lecture, I will keep calling it Byzantine for convenience's sake.. I already know the real name of the Empire was "Eastern Roman Empire".. This is why we were calling themselves "Ρωμιοί" (Romans) till the 20th century.. Roman culture equals to Greek culture, the countless texts written in Greek serve as excellent proof..
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης And I see our transition to Christian religion as a natural evolution of our culture.. No foreigner forced us to convert to Christianity.. Some of us chose Christianity and some others didn't.. So simple.. If Christianity was something "foreign" the first New Testament wouldn't be written in Greek .. In case, you want to mention that after the fact Christians became the majority they started being aggressive towards pagans.. For starters, these are the Middle Ages where religion is KING (with a few exceptions).. And secondly, may I remind you the Christians were thrown to the lions for entertainment before??? It's not like the pagans were kind to them either....
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης I brought it because it is relevant.. People didn't care so much for ethnicity as they cared about religion.. Of course it was "Roman" and not "Greek" in name.. BUT IN NAME ONLY!!! In actuality, it was Hellenic.. Stop playing with words.. Especially with the word "occupation".. Occupation is the negative term.. The Roman or the Macedon rule were anything but "occupation".. By your logic the Greek world was "occupied" all the time with the "occupier" being the Hellenic league that had the most power.. Are you kidding me? Is Greece occupied by Modern Greece as well??? 0_o Yes, I care about Historical accuracy but using a different term to distinguish the Eastern Roman Empire is not a crime.. Most people know it as "Byzantine" and I don't want to explain the same thing every single time for no reason.. I am tired of repeating that there was never a name as "Byzantine" and that is was always "Roman". I would bring the subject up only to correct someone who is falsely claiming these were two different empires.. Not to flex my knowledge..
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης Again, you are playing with words.. Being Roman meant being a Christian subject of the Roman Empire during the times of the Eastern Roman Empire.. While the word "Greek" (Hellinas) became synonym with pagan.. Playing around with namings, terms and words is useless and mostly unproductive.. I would bring up the subject of names only if someone used these names as a basis to make a false point.. So just leave the names aside and stick to what really matters.. What really matters is that the spoken/written language of Christianity and the Roman Empire was Greek (and many of the Emperor's)! These facts alone serve as proof that the Roman Empire was a predominantly Greek Empire.. You might argue for the millionth time by saying "but it was called ROMAN" and I will answer again that it doesn't matter how it was called (as in case of HRE which was called Roman but was no Roman in reality).. Even the other ethnicities you mentioned had to know Greek in order to be Roman citizens or Roman Emperors.. Yes, people cared more about religion and culture over anything else.. During the Middle Ages religion became KING of every day life.. The concept of "nationalism" did not exist back then.. Again, I disagree with the use of the term "occupation".. It is wrong on many levels.. Of course, no Greek City State would like it if one ruled above all others.. However, since all of these Greek States were Hellenic the usage of the word "occupation" is wrong.. In any Greek League a city usually ruled above all others.. So, using your logic, during the times of the Delian League most of Greece was under "Athenian occupation" and after the Peloponnesian War it came under "Spartan occupation"??? Do you see how this leads to illogical conclusions??? Ironically, YOUR argument is used by Skopjans today to falsely claim the Ancient Macedons were not Greeks.. Not mine..
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης Here it is... You are arguing names again while you claim you are arguing identity.. However, you are still arguing names.. Yes, if you could ask them, they would tell you theu are "Romans".. But ONCE AGAIN I tell you that the NAME Roman meant many things and one of them was speaking Greek..
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης Also, if you really think that the Greek States of the Delian League liked Athens one bit, then you might need to restudy that part of Greek History.. Almost, no one was part of this "Alliance" willingly.. But the moment they declared they wanted out, Athens would send their military the next day.. So they used military force to rule over other Greek City States of their "Alliance"... Therefore, per your twisted definition, these Greek City States were under "Athenian occupation"....
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης And about the Skopjans.. They argue exactly that the Macedons occupied the rest of the Greek world.. Which is part of your narrative.. I never heard the ridiculous statement of "Greeks cannot attack other Greeks".. However, they are full of bs so that wouldn't surprise me.. Why did you bring that up though? Why should we care about the false narratives made by Tito's failed experiment??
1
@ΝικοςΚαμαριωτης "The birth of the Empire".. Really?? You think that's more important to the average person than the culture and religion he/she follows or the written and spoken language used by their Empire?? On what basis, you make this claim?? And even at its birth.. The Roman Empire was still admiring Greek culture and language.. Doesn't following the Greek culture/language make you Greek? Or are you going to start arguing "genetics"?? I doubt the "birth of the Empire" mattered to the Romans though.. This sounds extreme even for the early 19th century when nationalism was at its peak.. About the Delian League, some examples they come to mind right away, are the Mytilenean and Rhodian examples.. And there were others as well.. However, I still have my reservations when it comes to the word "occupation", as using that logic the Greek World was under constant occupation by someone.. And occupation is a negative word...
1
kuvikina Hahaha!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 The English word "Hellenes" derives from the Greek Word "Ελληνες".. Modern Greece is called Hellas or "Ελλάς".. Our nationality is called "Hellenic" or "Ελληνική".. "Greece" is another English word, but it derives from the Latin word "Graecia".. It means exactly the same thing as "Hellas".. You play with names and words you do not understand.. Really pitiful...! :)
1
kuvikina Hahahahahahahaha! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Your are delusional!! What language did the Romans speak you poor thing??? 😂😂😂😂 Where they were living? And how did the people who were living in the Greek mainland and on the Greek islands vanish??? 😂😂😂 Did they board their spaceships again??? Hahahahaha!! Also, I am proud to be the inheritor of the Greco-Roman heritage.. The most glorious culture the world has ever known!! :) Not to mention that you make your claim on the basis the ENGLISH word "Greek" comes from latin, which irrelevant and ridiculous on multiple levels!! Hahahahahahahahaha! Cannot stop laughing at this nonsense!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
1
kuvikina Oh and let me educate a bit further Turkalbanian.. There is no such thing as "turkfied orthodoxes".. The moment someone was forced to choose the Turkish culture he converted to Islam as well! :) What's wrong Skanderberg's shame? Are you afraid to admit you shame the name of your national hero??
1
@onderguler1568 You should read instead.. You can do it by googling and findng Britannica.. According to UNCLOS the greek side is right, either you like it or not.. Again, not our media or our politicians.. Just read Britannica like I did..
1
My Life Hahahaha my Turkish friends living on Rhodes for generations laugh at your comment.... But at any rate, remind me who INVADED the island again Mustafa??? And don't forget to mention who have been living on this island since antiquity while you are at it....
1
@miraclemaker1418 "Putting blind trust to the LAW is a sign of bigotry"???? Sorry I stopped reading your bs there ... Come back with more logical arguments and I might reach the bottom of your walltext next time..
1
@miraclemaker1418 That was a better attempt.. Lets answer this time.. Laws are human made but they are what we need to function as a society.. If laws are to be re-written all the time based on someone's self-interests, then they lose their meaning.. Laws cannot be simply re-written just because it conflicts with your self-interests..
1
@miraclemaker1418 Example: I might want to build a big hotel as I have the biggest "territory" in the area.. But according to LAW, the small hut of my neighbour prevents me from doing so as it cuts the only access my territory has to the main road.. According to LAW, the hut owner needs to sell it to me first.. Or we can simply reach an agreement where I will pay him a small percentage from my earnings annually.. I cannot simply ignore the LAW and demolish his hut, just because the LAW conflicts with my self-interest.. And the rhetoric of "laws are just human made" wouldn't fly in any court of justice. ..
1
@miraclemaker1418 First of all, you illegally occupy Cyprus as well.. You are just a rogue country that obeys the laws and invokes them only when it suits them.. Your rhetoric further confirms this.. Secondly, UNCLOS should be the end of maritime disputes.. Just implement it everywhere and you need no conflict.. To further my aforementioned exemple, I would never murder the hut owner and then claim that I did it because "the law is incompetent"....
1
@ashrafuluzzal9058 He is biased though as a citizen of Azerbaijan...! ;)
1
@miraclemaker1418 You mentioned it first.. Of course you are going to get what's coming to you for even mentioning 1974.. Don't blame me just because you lost the debate...
1
@miraclemaker1418 The ICJ is incompetent but for a different reason.. It cannot enforce its decisions unto rogue countries who simply refuse to obey the law, as it doesn't have an army/police to carry out the enforcement ....
1
@miraclemaker1418 Nope it is not...... You need to move cargo ships for your survival, not military ships...
