Finland stirring up trouble by joining NATO. plus joining NATO isn’t entirely free. members have to spend land, human, and monetary capital to stay in the club

get into a border conflict and have the applying country rejected by NATO. Finland should remain neutral, but then again, strings are being pulled
5
EU is not political union
3
> no say sure but countries can still take action against another’s provocation. joining NATO is provocation. that’s just politics
3
countries choosing to be client states is none of business, yeah. they can continue to secure US strategic interests
3
the US definitely has some say in NATO members’ foreign policy, especially since there are US bases in those countries
2
weigh options carefully before committing. unless strings are being pulled
2
or, #3 be neutral. and no, ukraine was not neutral (they wanted to join NATO in 2003, then had a coup in 2014)
2
Reason: Ukraine tried to join NATO in 2003; Ukraine had a coup in 2014, thus Russia intervened. Russia was also under Soviet rule. country in NATO is a launching pad for the US and has foreign policy influenced by the U.S. this must be boggling your mind
2
US does have control over NATO. US calling themselves a fellow member is just a friendly front. the US has called on NATO many times to target certain countries, despite not concerning NATO members. but, turn a blind eye if it helps you sleep at night
2
“The EU traces its origins to the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the European Economic Community (EEC)” economic but not political even today. they say the EU is political but not really. de jure

and so the US expands via NATO
2
Russia won’t invade NATO, but NATO will conduct operations into Russia
2
every NATO mission was the US wanting something. NATO should be strictly defensive but it has been made offensive for 3 decades now

true neutrality ensures that nothing will happen to the country
