  2. qing is "china", just not han chinese. to europeans/westerners, tang is china, song is china, mongols/yuan is china, ming is china, qing is china, etc. a country or group of countries around that area is considered china.

  3. i wouldn't trust the origins of words. harem (word) is from the middle east, but where it started is another thing. like, trebuchet is a french word, but the french did not invent the trebuchet.
