  7. this video has so many wrong or controversial points. like: saying maoist china fell as with many other autocratic regimes but maoist government smoothly transitioned to government of china today. tang dynasty should not be considered turkic as that was not the main line within the family. whatifalthist calls qing the manchu conquest yet considers manchu as chinese but not the mongols, thinking that the manchu people assimilated into the native population which is not exactly true- so, he is semi-aware but does not believe in New Qing History nor Qing conquest theory. tangut people aren't mongol, manchu, nor han which is correct but he puts them as tibetan which is incorrect culture-wise. china didn't exactly ignore western technology prior to the opium war, late ming had potential as they were manufacturing such weapons and producing some good scholars/researchers but died to qing (and arguably shun dynasty). qing was in-contact with some western europeans and had some weapons but those instances are irrelevant as manchu people had no interest with higher technology in the first place [during that time]. many peasants did make themselves kings but few if not one or two became emperors. the legalist pattern isn't that compelling as if you can see that if a government plays their cards right, they can last longer. as for japan and south korea being democratic, they were or are influenced by america after ww2, so there isn't really a real self-efficient state that became democratic on their own in east asia. "democratic" or policy-laxed china will have many internal problems.
