what you call "power crazy" is just progressing power. like how the german empire was trying to catch up with the british empire and britain was like "germany is power crazy, i have to find a way to stop them!" yet britain had at least 2 times as many colonies, ships, and soldiers as germany. the south china sea conflict is just a test for china, to see how far they can push without provoking much or losing much. the usa isn't going to fight against china over some dumb, fake islands, and china is taking advantage of that logic and opportunity. china is trying to play their pieces right, and usa is going back and forth without much advancement into the situation. lets see who plays the right pieces throughout the entire 'game', we'll know who wins when we see it; usa is in a tricky situation and china knows it.
