US doesn't want china to have an edge, which makes sense since any power doesn't want their rival to rise. china didn't do anything to britain. britain is trying to win some prestige by firing back at china's providence of the security law. actions of china doesn't prove US government's argument, they just have the same stance. britain was planning on deploying huawei commercially and within the government, but with pressure from america, britain changed it to commercially only. now with more pressure from america and prestige-opportunity, britain is fully blocking huawei. is it really worth it, though? britain will have to wait longer or pay a higher price for 5G. britain and EU didn't even strike a deal yet, it has been years

  3. nah, britain didn't deny huawei because of security threats. it has a lot to do with america pressuring britain to drop huawei due to america-china rivalry and the prestige of hitting china for providing hong kong with security law. relations & prestige

  7.  @brazeiar9672  i know US hasn't changed its stance, britain is changing to strengthen relations with US and gain some prestige. britain might have to wait out for 5G. in a neutral standpoint, where else are they gonna get 5G for cheap? 5G quality from china might not be that good, sure, but it does develop some of the systems in the meantime.

"ill you put your national security in enemy government's hand just to save some money" it's not saving money to put your country and gov at risk, it's more to do with conceding to american demands. actions in hong kong has angered america, britain can only say no to america so many times until they can't anymore. even the british said they couldn't find any backdoors or any security threats in the 5G tech. "China just exploits any offer of compromise. It seems the Americans are right, the only thing the Chinese understand is force, and that's what China is going to get." hong kong needed assistance and china gave them a rule that they accepted. britain isn't going to mention american meddling in the hong kong protests because they can't. seems to america wins no matter what china does. tough time for china. not much else to say
