  1. what sucks is that a japanese state agreed to help the ming dynasty against the horde by sending soldiers and supplies, but japanese didn't do anything. japan did eventually trade with qing, but they didn't respect qing at all

  3. mid-late ming dynasty mainly had money problem. perhaps opening the country to trade would have helped, but the portuguese and local pirates were causing trouble. higher taxes led to peasant rebellion (eventually shun dynasty). maybe reducing army size? not sure how ming could have solved their monetary issue.

  4.  @lolasdm6959  no, qing took them out for two main reasons: koxinga had ships raid qing coasts, and tungning was considered ming loyalist. formosa/taiwan was not a core territory before qing annexed them
