  1. throughout history, japan would sleep a bit and wake up to adopt certain themes or policies before sleeping again adopting western clothing, architecture, and policy-making was definitely a japanese thing to do

  2. 1. Arabia was under the control of the Turks 2. Anglos and Soviets occupied Iran 3. France took Laos from Thailand 4. Italy conquered Ethiopia eventually 5. Allied forces held onto Japan for a few years 6. Other countries also escaped “full colonization/imperialism”
