No one wants to discuss politics because we are afraid to say anything wrong that would lead to an arrest. It looks nice this recent form of nationalism and renewed pride, but it does not feed the families. With the AES leaving the ecowas small exporters now suffer extra export taxes which threatens their livelihood. People call for unity but we get more and more divided. And it is all France’s fault? They left or were asked to leave. If you want to rally the people behind your cause it is easier to do so with a common foreign enemy. Colonialism is now being abused by some to install dictatorial regimes and the people just watch and continue to survive.
